Description Match worn or issued Real Madrid home shirt by the club’s number 4, which was Míchel in most of the matches this 1988-1989 season. During the season, Míchel (full name: José Miguel González Martín del Campo) was the one who played (most of) the league and international matches with number #4 (see the last photos of some of the lineups). Míchel was born and raised in Madrid and played for Real Madrid’s youth team. In 1981 he joined Castilla CF (Real Madrid’s reserve team) and he joined the first team of Real Madrid in 1984. The midfielder left the club in the summer of 1996 the Mexican football club Celaya. In this 1988-89 season, Real Madrid won the La Liga (Spanish league), Copa Del Rey (cup) and Supercopa. The shirt has all the characteristics of a match shirt: painted Parmalat sponsor logo and number 4. Shirts with sponsor were not commercially available. In this period, shirts were often used in multiple competition matches by whoever started with that number (so often also by multiple players).
